Stephen Hawking Joins Facebook, Watch First Trailer for His Upcoming Biopic Movie 'The Theory of Everything' Starring Eddie Redmayne Here (VIDEO)
Stephen Hawking officially decided to join Facebook a few weeks back and now has finally made his first post.
His first Facebook post reads,
"I have always wondered what makes the universe exist. Time and space may forever be a mystery, but that has not stopped my pursuit. Our connections to one another have grown infinitely and now that I have the chance, I'm eager to share this journey with you. Be curious, I know I will forever be."
I greatly enjoyed the STARMUS festival. It is a combination of science and rock music, both of which I love. I was interested in the talks by the astronauts and why the Soviet Union didn't beat Neil Armstrong to the Moon. I will have to read the transcript, because I didn't understand the translation. I enjoyed hearing how Bob Wilson eliminated pigeons, they thought the microwave background was caused by pigeon droppings, and Richard Dawkins on alien life. Some people say I'm an alien myself, with my robot voice.
I hope there is a STARMUS next year, and you invite me." -SH
The upcoming biopic film The Theory of Everything about Stephen Hawking's life released their first trailer over the Summer (which you can watch above). The movie stars Eddie Redmayne (Les Miserables) as Hawking and Felicity Jones (Like Crazy) as Hawking's wife Jane Wilde.
The film follows the scientist through university, courtship and the trials of motor neuron disease and focuses on Hawking's relationship with Jane Wilde (Felicity), the art student he fell in love with while studying at Cambridge in the 1960s. They will show Hawking and Jane's first encounter at Cambridge University in 1964 and his early academic successes, culminating in a doctorate after he advanced theories about spacetime singularities at the centre of black holes. He is diagnosed with motor neurone disease and told he may have just two years to live.
The trailer shows when the physicist became desperately ill with pneumonia in 1985 and was given a tracheotomy by doctors to save his life. It shows him hearing his now-famous synthesised voice for the first time and the dramatic moment lightened when Jane expresses alarm that the computer program features an American accent.
The Theory of Everything movie is based on Jane Hawking's book. The script was written by Anthony McCarten and produced by Tim Bevan, Eric Fellner, and Lisa Bruce. The movie was Directed by James Marsh (Man on Wire, Shadow Dancer).
The movie will be shown in the special presentations section at the upcoming Toronto international film festival. The Theory of Everything is scheduled to release to theaters in the US on November 7th and arrives in the UK on January 2nd, 2015.
