'Jupiter Ascending' 2015: The Wachowskis Returns to Sci-fi with 'Jupiter Ascending'
Starring Mila Kunis and Channing Tatum, "Jupiter Ascending" is an original sci-fi epic movie about Jupiter Jones (Mila Kunis), a lowly janitor born in Earth who is destined to do great things. Helped by Caine (Channing Tatum), who is an ex-military, part wolf part human and half albino, and Stinger (Sean Bean), also an ex-military who has been genetically spliced with bee DNA, Jupiter will claim her righful place as the queen of Earth just like her ancestors.
This film marks the first return of The Wachowskis in making science fiction movies. The Wachowskis are known for "The Matrix" trilogy and other critically acclaimed movies, Screenrant reports. This film is co-produced by Grant Hill, who also co-produced many of The Wachowskis films like the last two "Matrix: movies.
The movie was originally going to be released last July 25 but it was altered to July 18. Then on June 3, the released was moved to next year because more time is needed to perfect every shot and complete the special effects of the film. The film was also delayed for marketing tactics, The Telegraph reports.
According to the staff, the movie is not heavily made of CGI, instead they used practical stunts and Tatum stated that stuntmen were used in some scenes instead of CGI and different camera tricks were done in place of the CGI.
It is clearly shown in the trailer how the movie was carefully made, as each shot was cautiously made. The trailer shows the outer space battles between the heirs and fighting for the universe. There will also be a love line between Caine and Jupiter - as they help each other to achieve and get what they want, they will fall for each other.
As the trailers were out, many people are commenting that this movie will definitely have great effects but may fall short on the plotline. Some people are also doubting some of the cast members, saying they are not "good actors and actresses."
But there are still many moviegoers who are excited for the movie and cannot wait for next year to come.
