'Pitch Perfect 2' (2015): Get Pitch-Slapped Again in 2015
Universal Pictures has confirmed the sequel of the popular "Pitch Perfect" musical film and has set a release date for 2015. "Pitch Perfect" delighted audiences with its original combination of comedy and musicality in 2012 and now, the follow-up that audiences were hoping for, "Pitch Perfect 2," has been scheduled to premiere on May 15, 2015. As one would expect, there are already plenty of rumors, and plot and cast spoilers for the movie.
According to Breathe Cast, Barden Bellas will be the rival of Pentatonix, as they aim for the Acapella Supremacy title. The Pentatonix team is actually a real acapella group, whose popularity exploded among American viewers after they won the NBC reality show "The Sing Off" in 2011—in the winning episode of the program, they sang "Eye of the Tiger" by Survivor. However, due to a non-disclosure clause, the members of the group have not yet revealed any storyline details; but, suggestions have emerged, whereby the Barden Bellas will have the upper-hand over the talented group throughout the movie.
In a Yahoo! interview with the director of "Pitch Perfect 2," Elizabeth Banks—who also stars in both films—she said that most of the original cast of "Pitch Perfect" will also be part of the sequel. Banks also added that the Barden Bellas will compete against two other real acapella groups in addition to Pentatonix: Filharmonic and Penn Masala. The director stressed to Yahoo! that the sequel is based on acapella authenticity and she was committed to honoring that through her direction. She added that the Bellas will be finishing college and they must also eventually leave home—the members of the Barden Bellas must support each other as friends while looking out for their own career aspirations after graduation.
Aside from Banks and Ana Kendrick, the other original cast members that will be part of the sequel are Skylar Astin, Anna Camp, Brittany Snow, Rebel Wilson, Ester Dean, Alexis Knapp, Hana Mae Lee, Adam DeVine, Kelley Jakle, Chrissie Fit, Haille Stenfeild, Katey Sagal and Billy Parker.
"Pitch Perfect 2" was written by Kay Cannon and based on the book written by Mickey Rapkin. The fans of the movie are guaranteed their money's worth with the arrival of this new instalment.
