Catching Up with SHINEBRIGHT: An Exclusive Interview
SHINEBRIGHT, formerly known as Shine Bright Baby, have released their new album, Only You, on July 17. This 9-track project follows their successful 2013 debut album Dreamers.
Hallels: It hs been two years since your last album, what has transpired between this time?
A lot! It's actually been exactly 3 years since we recorded Dreamers so there has been a lot of touring, growing up and just a lot of life. Our current line up has changed due to mostly people getting married and/or pursuing other directions for their lives. Nathan (guitarist and my husband) and I moved from northeast Ohio to Nashville, TN this year. A lot of change to say the least!
Hallels: Congratulations on the release of your new EP Only You, how is this new music different or the same from your previous album?
Thank you very much! I always want our music to mirror our lives. We had a blast with this EP because we were able to stretch our wings a little more and experiment as artists. Only You is more personal, more grown up and more reflective our current sonic palette.
Hallels: Many of the songs on the EP revolve around the theme of "light." Was that deliberate?
Ironically, it wasn't. I will always love the imagery of light (hence our band name) and it keeps showing up in the songs.
Hallels: Recently, we did interview Matthew Parker, whom I believe also remixed a song on your EP. How did you get to work with him? And what was it like working with Matthew?
Matthew is so talented and we were able to work with through our producer David Thulin who facilitated the remixes on the album. We are always blown away by his creativity.
Hallels: What are you most excited about this new EP?
I am just excited that it's out. We feel so great out these songs and are eager to share them with as many people as we can!
