Hillsong UNITED Nominated For Second American Music Award
Hillsong UNITED has been nominated for the second time in a row for an American Music Award in the "Favorite Artist - Contemporary Inspirational" category. The 2015 American Music Awards will be broadcast live from Los Angeles' Nokia Theater L.A. on Sunday, November 22nd on ABC. The AMAs are a fan-voted award show with winners determined by votes cast online as well as via Twitter. The voting is now open, and fans can vote by clicking on the AMA site.
Hillsong UNITED released their latest studio album, EMPIRES, this past May to much acclaim, debuting at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 chart, at No. 1 on the Billboard Christian albums chart, and No. 2 on the Digital Albums chart. The album also remained in the Top 5 peaking at No. 2 on the iTunes overall albums during street week and was named Album of the Week from USA Today.
Leading up to the release of EMPIRES, UNITED was featured in Billboard magazine, performed to 10,000 people in New York City for a free concert in Central Park and at Los Angeles' Club Nokia, while also appearing live on The Today Show performing their hit single "Touch The Sky." UNITED was also named Top Christian Artist at the Billboard Music Awards held earlier this year.
Members of UNITED are set to perform this week during the annual Hillsong Conference Oct. 22-24 at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ. This month they will wrap up the remaining sold-out dates of the Hillsong Nights Tour in the U.S.
