The Voice's Jordan Smith is Engaged!
The last couple of months have been a whirlwind of successes for season 9's The Voice winner Jordan Smith. Smith was not only the laudable winner of the popular singing contest, two of his singles became back to back #1 hits on the Billboard Christian Songs chart. Now, this Church of God believer is engaged to his girlfriend Kristen Denny. Jordan proposed to his girlfriend of three years Kristen just on New Year's Eve, so that they could ring in 2016 as an engaged couple.
"RINGING in the new year with my future wife!" the singer shared on Twitter as his girlfriend Kristen Denny flashed her new engagement ring at Boston Public Garden. "She said YES! #Mr&MrsSmith."
The bride-to-be added on Facebook, "2016...You're definitely my favorite #Engaged #Mr&MrsSmith."
He told PEOPLE this week: "It's so full circle. She's so happy for me and she knows this is exactly what I've dreamed about."
After his name was called, "she came on stage and hugged me and just told me, 'This is it,'" said Smith. "That was such a special moment."
"She's been through it all with me and has been such a big support and foundation. To have her with me was so special."
Furthermore on January 2, Smith got to sing the National Anthem at the Winter Classic, and at the U.K. vs. Ole Miss game on Saturday at Rupp Arena in Lexington, Kentucky. Jordan will sing before the game starts at 7:00 p.m.
"I will also be singing the National Anthem at the UK Basketball game this Saturday, Jan. 2nd, at Rupp Arena in Lexington, KY. I have always been a huge Cats fan, so singing at this game is another dream come true!" Smith wrote at the time. "Lots more big things are in store for 2016 and I can't wait to share them with you. Stay tuned for more info on what's to come!"
Since winning The Voice, Jordan Smith has been very busy. On December 21, his home town of Harlan, Kentucky celebrated his homecoming with a welcome parade, and he was named a Kentucky Colonel and an honorary Harlan County coal miner.
