Maren Morris Combines Faith & Music in Her New Video "My Church"

The images of Christianity have often been utilized in country music songs. New country singer Maren Morris likewise uses the language of Christianity creatively in her brand new single "My Church." The single is accompanied by a stirring video was filmed in Austin, Texas.
The song is autobiographical of Morris and her journey. "I was really thankful just to be out of Nashville for a second," she remembers. "I was driving around, and all of a sudden it just hit me - the title, 'My Church,' popped in my mind. I was maybe looking for some sort of salvation in that moment on that writing trip. It was an escape for me - and not really a religious one, just something to get out of my own head."
"Country music is my religion in a way," she says. "That's what I grew up listening to. When you think about Johnny Cash's 'Sunday Morning Coming Down' and Hank Williams - where do I even begin with his catalog? - it's church to me. And I know it is for a lot of other people, too."
Here are the lyrics of "My Church:"
[Verse 1]
I've cussed on a Sunday
I've cheated and I've lied
I've fallen down from grace
A few too many times
But I find holy redemption
When I put this car in drive
Roll the windows down and turn up the dial
[Chorus]
Can I get a hallelujah
Can I get an amen
Feels like the Holy Ghost running through ya
When I play the highway FM
I find my soul revival
Singing every single verse
Yeah I guess that's my church
[Verse 2]
When Hank bring the sermon
And Cash leads the choir
It gets my cold cold heart burning
Hotter than a ring of fire
When this wonderful world gets heavy
And I need to find my escape
I just keep the wheels rolling, radio scrolling
Until my sins wash away
[Chorus]
Can I get a hallelujah
Can I get an amen
Feels like the Holy Ghost running through ya
When I play the highway FM
I find my soul revival
Singing every single verse
Yeah I guess that's my church
[Chorus]
Can I get a hallelujah
Can I get an amen
Feels like the Holy Ghost running through ya
When I play the highway FM
I find my soul revival
Singing every single verse
Yeah I guess that's my church
[Chorus]
Can I get a hallelujah
Can I get an amen
Feels like the Holy Ghost running through ya
When I play the highway FM
I find my soul revival
Singing every single verse
Yeah I guess that's my church
Yeah I guess that's my church
Yeah I guess that's my church
