Prince Laid to Rest on Saturday

Legendary singer, songwriter and producer Prince was laid to rest on Saturday (April 23). His body was cremated during a 4-hour service at a funeral home where only family and friends were given the opportunity to celebrate his love, his music, and his life.
A family friend told the Daily Mirror, "He wanted it to be kept to the minimum of fuss. Prince was such figure you don't need a funeral to remember him by," they said. "He wanted to simply disappear with no fuss, no drama, no fanfare. It was just his style."
Prince's publicist released a statement regarding the small ceremony:
"A few hours ago, Prince was celebrated by a small group of his most beloved: family, friends and his musicians, in a private, beautiful ceremony to say a loving goodbye. Prince's remains have been cremated and their final storage will remain private. We ask for your blessings and prayers of comfort for his family and close friends at this time. The cause of death remains unknown and it will be at least four weeks before we receive the results of the autopsy. An announcement will be made at a future date for a musical celebration."
The final destination of Prince's ashes are unknown, as are the detailes of an future funeral, or memorial service arrangments. However, a private ceremony has already been held at Prince's Paisley Park compound, and a larger, public memorial is also in the works.
On April 21, 2016, at 9:43 a.m., the Carver County Sheriff's Office received a 9-1-1 phone call requesting that an ambulance be sent to Prince's home at Paisley Park. The caller initially told the dispatcher that Prince was unconscious, then moments later said he was dead. Emergency responders found Prince unresponsive in an elevator and performed CPR, but were unable to revive him; he was pronounced dead at 10:07 a.m. He was 57 years old.
