'Girl Meets World' First Trailer Released Starring Ben Savage & Danielle Fishel from The Disney Channel, Watch Here (VIDEO)
The Disney Channel has released the first trailer for their upcoming "Girl Meets World" series that is set to air Summer 2014. The show is, of course, a sequel to the '90s hit show "Boy Meets World", which aired successfully for seven seasons on ABC Family until 2000. The Disney revamp will feature the main star characters from the original show, Cory (Ben Savage) and Topanga (Danielle Fishel) as parents, but will now center around their 12-year-old daughter Riley (Rowan Blanchard) and her best friend Maya (Sabrina Carpenter). You can check out the short trailer teaser above.
"Girl Meets World" will be set in the city in New York and follow along as Cory and Topanga's daughter, Riley, and her best friends take on the seventh grade and all of the challenges that come along with it. Cory will also be Riley's history teacher, so he can always keep a close eye on her at school which she will not always enjoy.
"Girl Meets World' is a new show for a new generation that will be rooted in the same kind of honest, comedic storytelling about coming of age and the importance of family and friendship that made "Boy Meets World" so popular," executive producer Michael Jacobs shared.
Many of the original "Boy Meets World" cast will be making special appearances through out the season including: Eric (Will Friedle), Shawn (Rider Strong), Minkus (Lee Norris), and even beloved teacher Mr Feeny (William Daniels). Tune in to the Disney Channel this summer to catch all of the action and find out if this sequel will be as entertaining and popular as the original. They have big shoes to fill, but having Ben Savage, now 33, and Danielle Fishel, now 32, back in the mix should help it along and bring in fans of the original show.
