Randy Travis Sings "Amazing Grace" at the Country Music Hall of Fame Induction

Three years after battling a life threatening stroke, country music singer Randy Travis sang "Amazing Grace" as he was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame on Sunday. Travis' wife Mary Davis-Travis asked the guests at the 2016 Medallion Ceremony to stand and sing with Travis. The emotional moment was the highlight of many standout moments from ceremony.
"Randy stared death in the face, but death blinked," Davis-Travis said. "Today, God's proof of a miracle stands before you."
Travis and fellow North Carolina natives Charlie Daniels and Fred Foster were inducted into the prestigious Country Music Hall of Fame Sunday evening in a ceremony at the Hall of Fame's CMA Theater.
The Country Music Association created the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1961 to trumpet the genre's most beloved members and preserve their legacy. Performers, including Kris Kristofferson, Dolly Parton, Brooks, Trisha Yearwood, Brad Paisley and Alan Jackson, sang songs pivotal to the career of each inductee before the men were officially anointed as members.
In 1999 Travis shifted away from mainstream country and focused on gospel. During this time, he recorded the albums Inspirational Journey (2000), Rise and Shine (2002), and Worship & Faith (2003). The single "Three Wooden Crosses" from the Rise and Shine album reached No. 1 and won the CMA song of the year in 2003.
