Bourneforyou "Born to Life" EP Review

On Bourneforyou's "Born to Life," you won't find a discounted Jesus. Too often Christian songs offer a domesticated view of Christianity where cheap grace is proffered at the expense of making light of the Cross of Jesus Christ. Glad to say, "Born for You" doesn't fall into such a trapping. These are the songs that call for each one of us to be sell outs for Jesus. Here you will find songs that hold nothing back when it comes to our worship of Jesus. They are so besotted with Jesus that they literally live out their band's titular. Bourneforyou is a new Christian rock/pop band that comprises of Jared Ostrander, Jorge Miranda, Cody Austin, Jenn Walters, and Brandon Gilzean.
"Born to Life" is their brand new EP that comprises of 4 brand new cuts coming from the band. Already making head way into the airwaves is the single "We (Our Lives Given)." Utilizing Isaiah 61 as its template, "We (Our Lives Given)" succinctly sums up the ministry of Jesus to the broken, the brokenhearted and the prisoners over a hook laden mid-tempo number. Jenn Walters, who has a mellifluous and yet breathy voice that calls to mind Hillsong's Brooke Fraser, takes the lead on "Only You." Anchored in the amazement of God's sovereign ways, this is the kind of worship songs that will flood the church with God's presence.
"Take My Life," on the other hand, is gorgeously tinkled with nostalgia as it weaves into this sonic challenge of utter abandonment to our Lord elements of hymnic melodic structures. While those who like their worship rocking with jangly guitar and passionate vocals will love "The Way, the Truth, The Light." At the end of the day, this is a record that goes all in when it comes to Jesus and His Kingdom. It's an album for the brave and it's an album for those who are born for Him and His Glory.
