2014 BET Awards Nominate Tye Tribbett for 'Best Gospel Artist' |
Gospel singer Tye Tribbett has been nominated for a 2014 BET Award for "Best Gospel Artist". This is Tribbett's first nomination and is being recognized for his album GREATER THAN. The 2014 BET Awards will air live from Los Angeles' Nokia Theatre L.A. Live on Sunday, June 29 at 8:00p.m. EST. |
Tribbett's album, GREATER THAN, was released to critical and consumer acclaim and became a huge hit. The album was the highest debut of any gospel album in 2013 and debuted at Number 1 on the Billboard Top Gospel Albums Chart, Number 4 on the Top Digital Albums Chart and Number 9 on the Top 200 Chart. GREATER THAN has maintained a Top 10 position for 40 weeks on the Top Gospel Albums Chart.
The first single off of the album "If He Did It Before...Same God" went to No. 3 on Billboard's Hot Gospel Songs Chart and garnered him a Soul Train Music Award win for Best Gospel/Inspirational Song of the Year and a 2014 Grammy Award for Gospel Song of the Year. The album also won a Grammy Award for Best Gospel Album (Greater Than).
Tribbett is set to host his first ever Mentorship program at the prized Medallion Conference Center in Columbia, SC beginning tomorrow May 15th - 17th. Special guests include Erica Campbell, Bishop Hezekiah Walker, Donald Lawrence among others. The mentorship program is an opportunity to provide singers, musicians and new artists the practical information needed to take their musical endeavors to the next level.
