StowTown Records Artist Wins State Business Competition
Popular StowTown Records artists, The Browns, were recently granted a total of $18,000 to purchase new equipment for The Browns Century Theater in their hometown of Le Mars, Iowa. The family group entered a statewide competition, Open 4 Business, through the Main Street Iowa Organization. The Browns were selected as one of five regional winners who won an $8,000 grant, then followed that up with a $10,000 grant at the state level with their second place overall finish.
"We have been overwhelmed at the response to the theater in our hometown where my husband's family has lived for five generations!" said Shelly Brown. "The Browns are committed to being at home in the theater one weekend a month."
"We still tour the remaining weekends. However, we sing to bus tour groups that we market to and bring in to our theater during the weekdays. We had 32 busloads last year and have more scheduled for this year."
The family also purchased the building across the street last September and renovated it into The Central Event Center, where they serve buffet meals prior to the concerts in The Browns Century Theater.
"This fall, we will also be promoting a concert in the theater by Southern Gospel Quartet of the Year, Triumphant, with more special guests to follow," added Shelly. "In 2018, we look forward to adding a Bed and Breakfast above the Event Center for our guests!"
"We are never bored! We love what we do and love the people we sing to!" shared Shelly. "God gets all the glory for allowing us to do what we love! Come see us in concert or in our hometown of Le Mars, IA!"
