Carrie Underwood's New Song "The Champion" Brings Hope to Many

Country music star Carrie Underwood's new song "The Champion" has brought hope to many. Released for Super Bowl LII, the song has also been picked up for use during the 2018 Winter Olympics. From kids reciting the song lyrics each morning in the school's gymnasium to a young boy finding hope in the message as he goes through cancer treatments and a dance group choreographing moves to the song, it's helping many.
The song's lyrics revolve around recovery from obstacles and is relevant to both Super Bowl LII and the 2018 Winter Olympics, which were both being broadcast by NBC-where Underwood has also performed the theme song for the network's Sunday Night Football.
Underwood stated that "the main focus was to celebrate athletes at the top of their game, but we also wanted the song to resonate with people in their everyday lives". The song was featured in the intro for NBC's Super Bowl LII broadcast; in the sequence, Underwood and Ludacris performed on a stage alongside footage of retired NFL players and highlights from past Super Bowl games.
One mother showed an image of her son at the hospital, undergoing treatment for cancer, thanking the singer for the powerful track. "When you find the perfect song to help your son thru his cancer battle. The champion! Thank you!" she writes.
"The Champion" sold 61,000 units in its first week and debuted at number 47 on the Billboard Hot 100 becoming that week's Hot Shot Debut. It landed at number three on Digital Song Sales, becoming Underwood's best rank in over a decade.
