Hillsong United & Hillsong Worship Honored With Five Billboard Music Award Nominations

Hillsong UNITED and Hillsong Worship garnered a combined five Billboard Music Award nominations, earning in all principal Christian categories, including dual nominations for Top Christian Artist and Top Christian Album ("Wonder" and "Let There Be Light"). Hillsong Worship scored an additional, stand-alone nomination in the category of Top Christian Song for their genre-smashing single, "What A Beautiful Name" that earned the group its first career GRAMMY Award win earlier this year for Best Contemporary Christian Music Performance/Song.
The nominations were announced live on NBC's Today show and the The 2018 Billboard Music Awards will air on NBC live from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday, May 20 at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
"We believe that music is a language that every living soul on the planet can resonate with and believe that the Gospel message is relevant to just as many people," says Brook Ligertwood of Hillsong Worship. "It's our honour to serve people by marrying the two and our sincere intention to do so with passion, integrity and authenticity, to a high creative standard. To receive three Billboard award nominations is such an honour, and we pray we can continue to write and create songs that resonate as strongly as this particular collection has in our own church and beyond."
The nominations come on the heels of Hillsong Worship's latest album release, "There Is More" which broke the street-week record for audio/video streams in the Christian genre. Earning over 8 million total streams since it's April 6 release, the project debuted at #26 overall on the Billboard Top 200, #8 on Billboard Digital Albums, and #2 on the Christian and Gospel Billboard Top 100. The Grammy award-winning group is celebrating the release of "There Is More" with a nearly sold-out U.S. tour of the same name, where they are joined by Global Senior Pastor of Hillsong Church, Brian Houston.
Undisputedly one of the genre's most influential artists in the history of contemporary Christian music with over 2 million albums sold and 700 million career streams to date, Hillsong UNITED remains the #1 Christian artist on all social media platforms reaching over 9.7 million fans combined. Their sixth full-length studio album "Wonder" is currently available everywhere music is sold.
