Irene Kelley Celebrates Her #1 Hit with Co-Writers Steve Cropper and Justyna Kelley

Irene Kelley is one of acoustic music's stalwarts; a songwriter who's penned hits for herself and other artists in multiple genres for decades. With her latest album, BENNY'S TV REPAIR, paints a characteristically intimate portrait of life, loss and love with 11 memorable tracks. "Something About A Train" spent 5 weeks in the #1 spot on the Bluegrass Today weekly airplay chart. "Bluegrass Radio" sat comfortably at #1 for 3 weeks, and "Thunderbird" recently flew into the Top 5. Kelley has had as many as 7 songs on the chart at once.
Now, Kelley tops the Grassicana Chart with "Anything To Help You Say Goodbye," a tune she penned with daughter Justyna Kelley, and iconic guitar man, Steve Cropper.
The Grassicana Chart is a home for music and artists that lean a bit edgier and more progressive than traditional bluegrass. Some of today's most influential and innovative acts have found a home on this burgeoning radio chart.
This latest album, Irene's second on the Mountain Fever Records label, got its name from Irene's love and admiration for her father, Benny, a TV repairman. Benny was a self-taught fix-it man who took a correspondence course by mail. That's where the story begins in the album's title track.
The album was recorded at Buzz Cason's Creative Workshop and lead vocals were recorded at the Historic RCA Studio C, both in Nashville. The engineers were Steve Chandler and Eddie Gore, respectively. Justyna Kelley also assisted in the vocal production. It was mixed and mastered by Aaron Ramsey at Mountain Fever Studios in Willis, VA.
BENNY'S TV REPAIR is available now on Mountain Fever Records.
