Random Hero Hits #1 with "Tension"
"Tension," the latest single from fan-favorite rockers Random Hero, is currently the #1 Christian rock song in the country, according to Christian Music Weekly's January 8 Rock chart. The title-cut and lead single from the band's 2019 RockFest Records debut, "Tension" chronicles a season of change for the group while offering encouragement for those navigating life's unavoidable obstacles.
'Tension'-both the song and the record-represents the growth we have experienced as writers, performers and musicians over the past year," shares Random Hero frontman Aaron Watkins. "I still remember us writing 'Tension' like it was yesterday. When the idea came up, we knew we had something special because the concept of tension is ubiquitous. Everyone understands it and experiences it at one time or another."
"People have told us the song defines where they are in life right now, and that the Hope it represents is their saving grace in the midst of hard times," Watkins adds. "There's no value you can place on knowing how much a song means to your fans. Those stories reaffirm we are right where we need to be and that our music is helping people."
Produced by Memphis May Fire's Kellen McGregor, Tension yielded the highest chart debuts in Random Hero's history. Bowing at #21 on Billboard's Heatseekers Albums chart as well as at #26 on Nielsen SoundScan's Current Hard Music Album Sales chart following its August release, the critically-acclaimed project also showcases the explosive album opener "Weight Of The World" and the equally hard-driving "Public Enemy," as well as the cinematic "White Flag," a soaring anthem of submission to God.
Random Hero is comprised of Aaron Watkins (vocals), Rob "Los" McDonough (bass), Patrick Madsen (drums) and Micah Labrosse (guitars). Since the band's formation more than a decade ago, Random Hero has earned numerous Top 5 Christian rock singles, including "Mirror Mirror," "Not Alone" and "Burn Up the Night," in addition to the Top 30 mainstream rock hits "Impossible" and "Running." Among the band's accolades, Random Hero has worked with former Skillet guitarist Ben Kasica and they were featured on the hit MTV show "Made," as well as multiple stops on one of rock's biggest traveling festivals, the Vans Warped Tour. Regularly showcased on Christian music's top rock outing, the City RockFest Tour, Random Hero continues to be a mainstay at fairs and festivals around the country and internationally. Their discography includes 2013's Carry Me, Bury Me; Oceans of Change (2014) and The Covering (2017).
Nashville Label Group and its RockFest Records imprint are helmed by Joseph Rojas, Seventh Day Slumber founder and frontman and creator of the City RockFest and Summer RockFest Tours. In addition to Random Hero, RockFest Records is home to Billboard hitmakers Fireflight, Seventh Day Slumber, The Protest and Zahna, as well as The Persuaded, Amongst the Giants and Silversyde. RockFest Records is distributed by New Day Christian Distributors, with digital distribution by Capitol Christian Music Group.
