U2 Bono's Daugther Eve Hewson Starring in New Cinemax Series 'The Knick' with Clive Owen Premieres August 2014, Watch Trailer Here (VIDEO)
The new series "The Knick" is set to premiere on Cinemax in August starring Clive Owen, Juliet Rylance, Eve Hewson, Andre Holland, Jeremy Bobb and Michael Angarano.
The series directed by Steven Soderbergh is set in downtown New York in 1900 and centers on the Knickerbocker Hospital and its groundbreaking surgeons, nurses and staff, who push the bounds of medicine in a time of astonishingly high mortality rates and zero antibiotics.
Before "The Knick" Season 1 even premieres, Cinemax has already announced the renewal of the show for its second season on Thursday at the Television Critics Assn. summer press tour. The second season will be 10 episodes long just as Season 1 and Soderbergh will again direct all episodes.
"I'm going to do all 10 - you're seeing a trend now of ... a sense that there's a positive aspect to having a visual language that's very specific and very unified throughout the show," Soderbergh noted. "It's not only creatively satisfying, but also, practically speaking, better ... in terms of economics ... we schedule it like a film."
He added, "11 months ago, I did not think I'd be sitting here talking about 10 hours of material that is behind us and 10 hours in front of us, but I had a very similar reaction to the one Clive had when I read the first script ... I knew that, as the first person who got to take a look at it, the second person who was going to see it would say yes. My whole life, I've moved in any direction that I felt was going to engage me and excite me."
Eve Hewson is the daughter of U2 singer Bono and is looking to break out from under her father's large shadow. She is featured in the new issue of W Magazine. "My dad wants to be an actor now," Eve told the mag. "He's like, 'What do you think of me being in a movie with Beyoncé?' And I said, 'Stick to
your day job!'"
You can check out the new original series when "The Knick" premieres Friday, August 8th at 10PM/9c on Cinemax.
