'Community' Season 6 Cast Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash & More Share About New Season at 2014 Comic-Con
The cast of "Community" sat in for their 2014 Comic-Con panel at the San Diego Convention Center hosted by TV Guide Magazine. They shared about their excitement to be back, but gave little information about the upcoming Season 6. Present on the panel was "Community" creator-mascot Dan Harmon, writer Chris McKenna, and cast members Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Jim Rash and Dino "Star Burns" Stamatopoulos.
"My philosophy is: Attempt to make the same show, and let the lack of boundaries kind of make themselves felt, instead of just going," shared Harmon.
When asked of potential Halloween and Christmas episodes, McKenna shared they did not have a timeline of the new episodes for Yahoo yet. "I don't think it's going to be in time," he admitted however. "We don't want to be doing Halloween episodes in February." Yahoo had initially suggested that the show would return in the fall, but Harmon now says that the writing would actually begin in the Fall, and the show would air 'probably sometime after Christmas.'
Jonathan Banks was featured in last season but is unlikely to return do to his role in AMC's new Breaking Bad' spin-off "Better Call Saul."
When asked about being cancelled, Joel McHale said he had "no doubt we would be back... Much like a Japanese general in World War II, the only option was victory or suicide." He joked that he would've done a "regional theater version of the show" because he loves it so much, and was enthusiastic about the opportunity to bring the series online. "You're young people, you watch it the way most people do, which is on tiny little screens. And now we're on one, so (bleep) you, network television!"
Co-star Gillian Jacobs revealed that she "shed a tear the day that we were canceled - I cried in my car," when she heard of the shows cancellation.
"It's been a blessing each season to go to the next one," Rash agreed. "To go to six and see that hashtag [#sixseasonsandamovie] potentially come to fruition is very exciting."
