Jimmy Swaggart in Critical Condition Following Cardiac Arrest

Evangelist and gospel music icon Jimmy Swaggart is currently hospitalized in critical condition after suffering a cardiac arrest at his home in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on the morning of Saturday, June 15, 2025.
According to a statement from his son, Pastor Donnie Swaggart, emergency services were called after Jimmy was found unresponsive around 8:00 a.m. Immediate life-saving efforts were performed by Donnie and his son Gabriel Swaggart until paramedics arrived and successfully restored a heartbeat. Jimmy Swaggart was then transported to a nearby hospital where he remains under intensive medical care.
"Without a miracle, his time will be short," Donnie Swaggart said during a heartfelt message to the congregation of Family Worship Center, the church founded by his father. Despite the critical nature of his condition, family members noted that when gospel music was played at his bedside, he appeared to respond emotionally, shedding tears - a sign they interpret as his awareness of familiar voices and songs.
Jimmy Swaggart, who celebrated his 90th birthday in March, has been a towering figure in Christian broadcasting and Pentecostal ministry for over six decades. He is the founder of Jimmy Swaggart Ministries and the SonLife Broadcasting Network, and his music and sermons have reached millions around the world.
The Swaggart family is requesting continued prayers and support during this difficult time. Further updates will be provided by Jimmy Swaggart Ministries as they become available.
