Joe L. Barnes Announces Engagement to Lauren Scott

Joe L. Barnes and Lauren Scott have officially announced their engagement. On June 23, 2025, Barnes shared the joyful news on Instagram with a playful and heartfelt message: "What do you say... to coffee every morning, starting new traditions, and unintentionally triggering each other for the next 100 years? YES!" The couple is set to marry on June 28, 2025, in Atlanta, Georgia.
Joe L. Barnes, born Joel Barnes in Kentucky, is a Grammy-winning gospel singer, songwriter, and worship leader. He serves at The Shepherd's Tent in Covington, Georgia, where he is passionate about teaching and empowering others to create authentic worship experiences. Barnes rose to national prominence in April 2020 with the release of "Promises," a collaboration with Maverick City Music and Naomi Raine. The song has garnered over 140 million views on YouTube and was nominated for "Gospel Worship Recorded Song of the Year" at the 2020 GMA Dove Awards. In addition to "Promises," Barnes has co-written several influential songs, including "In Spite of Me" by Tasha Cobbs Leonard, "Not Holding Back" by JJ Hairston, and "Ruins" with Maverick City Music. In 2024, he signed a solo record deal with RCA Inspiration and Provident Entertainment, marking a new chapter in his musical journey.
Lauren Scott is a worship pastor, artist, and songwriter based in Atlanta, Georgia. Since 2021, she has served on staff at Forest City Church, where she is actively involved in discipling volunteers and developing a culture of worship and prayer. Her contributions span multiple worship communities, including the International House of Prayer, Forest City Worship, and Maverick City Music. Scott's personal story includes overcoming significant life challenges, and her resilience has shaped her heart for ministry and her commitment to leading worship with authenticity and depth.
