T.D. Jakes Addresses False Rumors Linking Him to Diddy, Blames AI Bot Attack

Bishop T.D. Jakes, founder and senior pastor of The Potter's House, has responded forcefully to a wave of misinformation that falsely linked him to rapper and music executive Sean "Diddy" Combs. In a recent statement, Jakes revealed that over 44,000 AI-generated bot accounts were behind a viral smear campaign that spread baseless claims connecting him to alleged parties and misconduct involving Combs.
"These rumors are 100% false," Jakes stated. "I was targeted by a coordinated bot attack-98% of which were AI-generated-designed to deceive the public and damage my reputation."
Jakes clarified that his only contact with Combs was a brief daytime visit for a birthday celebration that lasted no more than 30 minutes. He categorically denied ever attending any so-called "freak-off" parties or being involved in any inappropriate behavior.
He has since filed legal motions to subpoena YouTube, Google, and other platforms to identify the origin and operators of the accounts involved in the spread of disinformation.
"If there had been any real allegations or criminal activity, the proper authorities like the FBI would be involved, not bots on TikTok or whisper campaigns on social media," Jakes said.
The incident has brought renewed attention to the dangers of artificial intelligence being used to spread falsehoods and defame public figures. Jakes thanked close friends and supporters-such as Oprah Winfrey and Denzel Washington-who reached out during the ordeal, and he called for increased media literacy and discernment in an era increasingly shaped by algorithms and deepfakes.
"This wasn't just gossip-it was a synthetic attack on truth," Jakes emphasized. "We must hold platforms and individuals accountable for weaponizing AI to smear others without consequence."
