Hulk Hogan, Pro Wrestling Icon and Outspoken Christian, Dies at 71

The world of professional wrestling and popular culture is mourning the loss of legendary WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan, who passed away on July 24, 2025, at the age of 71. Born Terry Gene Bollea, Hogan died following a sudden cardiac arrest at his home in Clearwater Beach, Florida.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene around 9:51 a.m., performing CPR for over 30 minutes before Hogan was transported to Morton Plant Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Authorities report no signs of foul play, and a routine investigation is underway.
Widely regarded as one of the most recognizable figures in professional wrestling history, Hulk Hogan was the face of the WWF (now WWE) throughout the 1980s and early 1990s. Known for his larger-than-life persona, signature "Hulkamania" catchphrases, and unforgettable charisma, Hogan helped transform pro wrestling into a global entertainment phenomenon.
Beyond the ring, Hogan starred in films, television shows, and reality programs, becoming a household name far beyond wrestling circles. In recent years, he had been open about his Christian faith, publicly reaffirming his spiritual beliefs and being baptized in 2023.
WWE issued a statement calling Hogan "one of pop culture's most enduring icons," while tributes poured in from wrestling legends and fans across the world. John Cena, Ric Flair, and Triple H were among those who honored Hogan's enduring legacy and impact.
"He was a real-life superhero to millions. He lived larger than life, and his influence shaped an entire generation of wrestling fans," said WWE Chief Content Officer Paul "Triple H" Levesque.
Hogan is survived by his two children, Brooke and Nick Bollea.
Further details about memorial services will be announced by the family in the coming days.
