Game Of Thrones Season 5 Casting, Spoilers, Start Date And Filming: Filming Halted As Shooting Of Nude Scene Denied By Dubrovnik Film Commission
We have the latest for you on the casting, spoilers, start date and filming of season 5 of Game of Thrones. The crew and cast of 'Game of Thrones' is experiencing some difficulty as they were unable to obtain a permit to film one of the crucial scenes in the upcoming season. The fifth season of the highly loved HBO series 'Game of Thrones' is expected to be back on air in early 2015. However, they encountered a problem when preparing for the upcoming season.
One of the crucial scenes to be included in season five is Cersei Lannister's walk of shame. Tyrion's will be publicly humiliated. According to the book, Cersei accuses Margaery of adultery and treason but her plans backfire. Because of this, Cersei is punished and humiliated by being made to strip naked and walk from the Great Sept of Baelor to the Red Keep. According to TMZ, the production team could not film that particular scene as the film commission of Dubrovnik, Croatia denied the crew a permit as the city bans public nudity.
Other reports claim that the incidence was a personal sabotage from Bishop Anthony IV who disdained the content and the "public display of sexuality." Thus, the church allegedly wielded pressure on the film commission in Croatia to deny the production team the necessary permit to shoot the specific scene. The church of St. Nicholas in Dubrovnik, Croatia was used to show Kings Landing in the series. There are three ways to get around this. One way is for the production team to omit the controversial scene. Another way is for them to find a similar location where they can shoot the scene. The third and last way out is that they can tastefully shoot the scene and succumb to censorship.
It is reported that the scene was very important in character development in the next season. This means that the showrunner and author, George R.R. Martin may not be so thrilled about cutting the scene. The people behind the series have not commented about the issue as their places are still under wraps.
