Disneynature New Film 'Monkey Kingdom' Releases April 2015, Watch Incredible Extended Trailer Here (VIDEO)
Disneynature films have shot their latest movie titled Monkey Kingdom. They have released an extended trailer, featuring music from Lorde, which you can check out above.
Monkey Kingdom will be Disneynature's eighth True Life Adventure and the follow-up to 2014's Bears. The film is set to hit theaters on Earth Day, April 17, 2015.
Monkey Kingdom spotlights the gripping reality of a newborn monkey and its mother, struggling to survive within the competitive social hierarchy of the Temple Troop, a dynamic group of monkeys who live in ancient ruins found deep in the storied jungles of South Asia, alongside a rich cast of forest characters. Life is grand, food is plentiful and safety is assured if you're lucky enough to be born on the higher rungs of the Troop's social ladder. But this young mother and her infant find themselves in a constant state of hunger, dodging threats from higher-ranking monkeys determined to keep them on their assigned rung. It'll take a lot of ingenuity, hard work-and a little luck-if this little family hopes to change their place in the world.
Monkey Kingdom is directed by Mark Linfield ("Chimpanzee," "Earth") and co-directed by Alastair Fothergill ("Chimpanzee," "Bears"). The film is narrated by Suraj Sharma.
Disneynature is an independent film label of The Walt Disney Studios. Founded on April 21, 2008, its releases consist of independent nature documentary films and is headquartered in Paris, France.
The first film released domestically under the new label was the American version of Earth, from award-winning British producer/director Alastair Fothergill, whose credits include the landmark Planet Earth series for the BBC and The Discovery Channel and The Blue Planet. Earth, produced by BBC Worldwide and Greenlight Media and co-directed by Mark Linfield, was released in cinemas internationally in 2007. It premiered in the U.S. on Earth Day, April 22, 2009.
