Assassin's Creed Movie News: Ubisoft's Best-Selling franchise, the Assassin's Creed Game Series, is Making its Movie Screen Debut on August 7, 2015
To all the Assassin's Creed Fans: your favorite action-packed stealth game is now making its movie screen debut! Your wait is finally over. After several delays and date changes, The Assassin's Creed's movie release date is finally set to August 7, 2015.
Regarded as Ubisoft's best selling franchise, the game and its storyline are both well praised. Over 73 million copies were sold as of April 2014. This is why many Assassin's Creed fans are looking forward to its first film adaptation.
To those who are new to the whole Assassin's Creed trend: The Assassin's Creed is an action-adventure video game series developed by Ubisoft Montreal and published by Ubisoft. The game play centers around Desmond Miles, a bartender and the game's main character. A game player can view genetic memories of Desmond's ancestors using a machine called "Animus". Meanwhile, Desmond relives one of his ancestors' memories, which include the rivalry of two ancient secret societies: The Assassin Order and The Knights Templar. The game's historical story line revolves around this rivalry. The game player's main goal is to carry out a series of assassinations as commanded by the leader of the Assassin Order. Accomplishing each mission allows the game player to rise in the ranks of the Order.
Meanwhile, in the movie version, the plot goes like this:
"A bartender is captured by a large corporation and is forced into a machine, named "The Animus", allowing him to relive the memories of his ancestors -- Most of whom are Assassins -- to retrieve powerful and dangerous artifacts"
While the game fans are expecting the film adaptation to be faithful to its original narratives, it is said that Assassin's Creed movie will surely introduce new elements. While this may disappoint you, don't be. Regardless of its new touches, the movie will not let you miss out on the Assassin's Creed feel and experience of the game. Like any film adaptation, making little changes here and there will only make sure that the adaptation is not just a mere movie copy of the game.
Besides, The Assassin's Creed movie is directed by Justin Kurzel, and stars Michael Fassbender who is also producing the movie. It is said that the mention of Fassbender as the movie producer is a relief for many of the game fans!
So keep your hopes up for the upcoming film adaptation of the Assassin's Creed video game series. Don't forget to check out its movie trailers! The Assassin's Creed will strike the cinemas on August 7, 2015.
