'Dexter' Star Michael C. Hall Cast as Hedwig in Broadway Production 'Angry Inch' Same Role as Neil Patrick Harris Played
"Dexter" star Michael C. Hall has a new gig as Hedwig in the Tony Award-winning production of 'Hedwig and the Angry Inch', confirmed by EW. Hall will take over the role from Andrew Rannellswill and will begin his run on October 16th through January 4th at Belasco Theatre.
Hedwig is the same role that "How I Met Your Mother" star Neil Patrick Harris played for a time a well and won a Tony for his work.
Lena Hall-another Tony winner, who plays Hedwig's husband, Yitzhak-will remain in the production alongside Michael C. Hall.
Hedwig, the a book by John Cameron Mitchell and music and lyrics by Stephen Trask - centers on an East German transgender rocker searching for love and completeness in America.
Hall recently appeared on Broadway in the play The Realistic Jones, but he is a veteran of taking over roles in storied Broadway musicals, making turns as Billy Flynn in Chicago and the Master of Ceremonies in Cabaret.
Michael C. Hall had his breakout television roles in the HBO series "Six Feet Under" where he played a funeral director and next in the Showtime hit show "Dexter" where he earned Emmy Award nominations. In 2010, Hall won a Golden Globe Award and a Screen Actors Guild Award for his role in "Dexter".
Hall's movie roles include the 2003 thriller Paycheck, the 2009 science fiction thriller Gamer, the 2011 comedy Peep World, and the 2011 drama The Trouble with Bliss. In 2013, he played the part of David Kammerer in the film Kill Your Darlings, directed by John Krokidas. Michael worked on the film adaptation of Joe R. Lansdale's cult novel Cold in July, in which Jim Mickle directed. The film premiered at the 2014 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah.
