Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 Specs and Preview, Official Release this September 2014
While the expected release date for the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 should be around this month, the device is already sold in Thailand and Malaysia. This gave us a little preview of the upcoming Mega 2, as we wait for its official release.
Previously, the device came with a code name "Vasta", and was first officially reported back in March. It was expected to be released in two types: one with a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor and another one with a Samsung Exynos 4415 chip. It was also expected to come with a 12 megapixel camera, and an 'Easy Side Panel' with buttons that allow on-screen navigation. These claims are yet to be confirmed after the official release of the Mega 2.
As for the ones sold in Thailand and Malaysia, Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 has a 6 inch 720 x 1280 Super AMOLED display, with a 2800mAh battery. It runs on Android 4.4.4 KitKat with Samsung's latest Magazine UX, and supports 4G and NFC. It also comes with a 1.4GHz quad-core Exynos 4415 processor, a 1.5GB RAM, a 16GB internal storage, and a microSD slot.
Other expected specs and features for the Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 are the 802.11n Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Bluetooth 4.0 LE, GPS, GLONASS, IR blaster, accelerometer, GPS, compass, gyroscope, light-sensor, and a proximity sensor.
Samsung should be soon announcing the official release of Samsung Galaxy Mega 2 at IFA 2014 in Berlin this month.
