NBA's Kevin Durant Consoles NFL's Robert Griffin III for Dislocated Ankle at the Washington Redskins v Jacksonville Jaguars Game
Reigning NBA MVP and Oklahoma City Thunder star Kevin Durant was spotted by Fox Sports dropping by the Washington Redskins locker room to comfort quarterback Robert Griffin III who dislocated his left ankle in the first quarter of their game Sunday with the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Redskins won 41-10 but Griffin had to be carted along the sideline with his leg in a splint towards the players' dug-out. It's not known what Durant said to Griffin at the locker room but the NBA's resident Mr. Nice Guy, who is a Washington D.C. native and a lifelong Redskins fan, was seen prominently wearing a Robert Griffin III No. 10 souvenir jersey.
In related news, following being named NBA MVP, Kevin Durant will also be the NBA 2K15 cover athlete. Of course, the modest Durant told his fans in a Twitter message that ""I begged them to put me on the cover. I don't think anybody plays the game [@NBA2K] as much as I do. It's so authentic." -@KDTrey- NBA 2K 2K15 (@NBA2K) May 6, 2014." Durant also made the cover of the 2K13 video game but back then, he shared the glory space with two others - Chicago Bulls' Derrick Rose and Los Angeles' Clippers' Blake Griffin. On his Facebook page, the 25-year old proudly posted, "2 life goals in the same day! So grateful. #YourTimeHasCome #MVP # NBA 2K15 2K."
Nice things just keeps happening to the person described in the Foot Locker commercials as "the nicest guy in the NBA." Last month, Durant became a partner at Orange Leaf Frozen Yogurt through a deal facilitated by RocNation, the sports and entertainment agency founded and owned by Beyonce's husband Jay-Z (aka Shawn Corey Carter), according to a report from Cliff Brunt of the Associated Press. Durant will reportedly be owning an undisclosed percentage of the Oklahoma City-based company which currently has 321 stores in 40 states, four in Australia and 69 under construction.
The week before that, RocNation also landed the reigning NBA MVP Kevin Durant a 10-year endorsement contract with Nike that could fetch more than $300 million for Oklahoma City's star player. Roc Nation made the mega-deal possible by orchestrating a bidding war between Nike and Under Armour. Since winning the MVP award, according to the Associated Press report, Durant "has re-signed with Nike, Sprint and BBVA Compass, added deals with Orange Leaf and Sparkling Ice and was named the cover athlete for NBA 2K15."
