'The Voice' Winner Josh Kaufman Joins Broadway Play 'Pippin' as Lead Role Beginning Nov 2014
"The Voice" Season 6 winner Josh Kaufman is making a different stage appearance this Fall. He will be joining Broadway's music Pippin and he will be playing the lead role. This willl be Kaufman's Broadway debut as he plays the young eighth-century prince, who grows tired of life in the kingdom and leaves the comforts of home to find purpose.
Kaufman will be replacing Dean Massey beginning on Nov. 4 and will play the lead in the production through Jan 4. 2015. The play has won four Tony Awards and launched a national tour earlier this month.
Josh kept busy this Summer crossing the country on "The Voice" Tour 2014 that kicked off on June 21st in San Antonio and wrapped up on August 2nd in Redmond, Washington. The tour included "The Voice" favorites such as Jake Worthington and Christina Grimmie, the Season 5 Top 3: Tessanne Chin, Jacquie Lee, and Will Champlin and Season 1 finalist Dia Frampton. Also included on the tour is Jake Barker (Season 6), Holly Tucker (Season 4) and Kristen Merlin (Season 6).
Kaufman is a member of the band The New Etiquette (formerly known as Josh Kaufman and the Frequency), an Indianapolis based rock and soul band. The band was formed in 2010 with original band members Josh Kaufman, Ryan Koch, and Nate Gray. The band released a six track self-titled EP in spring 2012 drawing on the musical talents of several local musicians.
