Two and a Half Man Season: Sheen has contacted his former employers at Warner Bros to know if he can be a part of the show's final episode
"Two and a Half Men" has been a consistent winner in the ratings ever since the series first premiered in 2003. For the first 8 seasons, Sheen starred as charismatic playboy Charlie Harper -- who lets his brother Alan (Jon Cryer) and young nephew Jake (Angus T. Jones) live with him in his California mansion.
Production on the series was postponed in 2011 when Sheen entered rehab due to issues with substance abuse. He was subsequently terminated from the series after making disparaging remarks to the public about creator and executive producer Chuck Lorre.
Sheen's character was then killed off and replaced by billionaire Walden Schmidt (Ashton Kutcher) for season 9. The death occurred off screen because Warner Bros. had fired Sheen earlier in the year for his bizarre attacks on the studio, CBS and the show's creator Chuck Lorr is seeking to return. According to US media reports Sheen has contacted his former employers at Warner Bros to investigate whether he can be a part of the show's final episode. That episode, the 12th season finale, is scheduled to air in the US in the second quarter of 2015.
He was replaced by actor Ashton Kutcher, who plays billionaire Walden Schmidt. In the show, Schmidt purchased Harper's house after his death.
"I've reached out to them and they've reached back," Sheen told US media. "We're trying to figure out what makes the most sense."If they figure it out like I've presented it to them and they want to include me in some final send-off, I'm available and I'm showing up early. If not, it's on them." Sheen said a return to the series for its final episode would be a gesture of "good will and a tip of the hat to the fans."
Since leaving Two and a Half Men, Sheen has become the star of another sitcom, Anger Management. That project was produced for the FX network on an unusual "10/90" funding model, in which 10 episodes are commissioned and if they are successful an additional 90 are ordered. To date 87 of the 100 episodes ordered by FX have been filmed.
