Flappy Bird Creator Launches New Game, Swing Copters
Vietnamese independent video game developer Dong Nguyen of DotGears shot to fame earlier this year when his game, Flappy Bird, dominated the iTunes and Google Play App stores.
Known for its old school pixelated graphics and extreme difficulty, the game has proven itself for being addictive. By February, Nguyen removed the game from the app store citing that he didn't want to responsible for numerous people getting addicted to the game. It came as a shock to everyone that he would do such a thing, because Nguyen was already earning $50,000 a day from advertising revenue. It was however re-launched a couple of months later.
Today, Nguyen has launched a potentially addictive new game called 'Swing Copters.'
Bearing the same aesthetics and gameplay mechanics of Flappy Birds, Swing Copters will have players tap on the screen to direct the little helicopter flying upwards left and right, and simultaneously trying to avoid swinging hammers! Generally speaking, the game is the vertical version of Flappy Birds. I've only played for a couple of minutes (maybe 10 or 20) and I've only managed to get 1 point. Swing Copters is frustratingly difficult, and might even be more difficult than Flappy Bird. A lot of patience, good timing, and great hand eye coordination is sorely needed to play this game. I expect a lot of players pulling their hair out after failing in this game for minutes, or even hours. This might turn out to be another addiction coming to mobile gamers this year. YOU'VE BEEN WARNED.
The new game is still free to play with Nguyen relying again on advertising revenues. Also, there will be a 99cent version of the game coming as well.
